First Lady Michelle Obama, acting in her role as honorary patron, hosted the winners and finalists of the 10th annual National Design Awards at a White House ceremony (july 24,2009). The awards, sponsored by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, recognize and promote design excellence, innovation and public impact.
